Home Inspector Training Program

Are you interested in becoming a home inspector?  As a working home inspection company for the past 25 years, we have been approached by many people with similar interests.  In response to this demand we've created a program so people like you can take advantage of the outstanding opportunities available in this field.

Home inspections have been used in the United States for approximately 40 years.  Entrepreneur Magazine reports “home inspection is the fastest-growing segment of the housing industry” and that “90 % of homes sold will involve an inspection by the end of this decade.”  Money Magazine has rated the home inspection industry as one of the “Top Ten Highest Income Home Businesses.”

Home inspections are a lucrative new business because they usually require very little start-up capital, and can be maintained with very low operating cost.  The price of a home inspection varies be region and company, but most inspections take between 1 and 4 hours and run $150.00 to $500.00.  The average inspection nationally runs 250.00 and takes 2 hours.

Most inspections are performed for the potential buyer.  When working with a home inspector the buyer receives an objective assessment as to the condition of the property.  The buyer may use this information to re-negotiate the price, or rest assured they have purchased within their budget.  Many experts encourage inspections every few years to help maintain the house properly.  As a result, listing inspections are becoming more popular with sellers to avoid surprises when selling their home.

A home inspection is a visual evaluation of the structural and mechanical components of a house.  Most inspections include: the heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical systems, built in appliances, foundation, interior, and exterior of the house.  Inspections may also include well, septic, water, mold, lead paint, and radon testing.

Wagner Home Inspections has been a pioneer in the home inspection industry since 1981.  Started in Omaha, Nebraska and expanded to Florida in 1993, the company continues to grow.  We are one of the few companies whose inspections are accepted by FHA, VA, and the Farm Home Administration, as well as most insurance companies.  The company founder and owner, Virgil Wagner, is past president of the National Residential Inspectors Association.  Virgil has taught home inspection classes across the United States.  He teaches regularly at several colleges, and works with real estate companies on continuing education.  Mr. Wagner has completed over 15,000 inspections himself.

Wagner Home Inspection Training is structured to provide you with the most comprehensive training at a reasonable cost.  The class includes a review of structural and mechanical components, and stresses procedures for conducting the inspection, standards of the industry and report writing.  The Wagner course teaches you efficient procedures so you don’t miss items during your inspection, and how to properly report your findings to help ensure satisfied clients.

The course includes two field inspections to give you hands on experience.  You will complete reports on these inspections and discuss your findings in class.  We also include a discussion on marketing your business.  No matter how good your inspections and reports are, in order to succeed you must generate business.  We also furnish you with a “CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION” to add to your credentials, so you will be considered a “Certified Inspector” upon completing the class.  This class is accredited by the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors.

The class materials include:  “Reports, Forms, and Operations Materials”, "Advertising and Marketing Materials”, and Essentials of Home Inspection. The ‘reports and advertising’ materials include copies of our confidential business materials which you may customize for your own use.  Essentials of Home Inspection is your text book for class.  These three items alone carry a suggested retail of more than $450.00 and are included in the tuition!

The cost to attend class is $1,295.00.  A down payment of $200.00 is required to register.  The balance is due at the beginning of the first day of class.  We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express, so you can defer your payments if necessary.  Keep in mind you can recoup the cost of class by performing a handful of inspections.  Class size is limited so early registration is recommended.

If you have ever wanted to own your own business, or work in the exciting home inspection industry, don’t miss this terrific opportunity!  For more information, or to register, give us a call at 1-800-792-4637 or send us an email at contact@wagnerinspections.com today!
